Difference between extra heavy duty and medium duty sewing machines

Thick material sewing machines">Extra thick material sewing machines are industrial sewing machines designed to accommodate extra thick and hard materials. In industrial sewing production we also encounter medium thickness sewing machines, which are different from extra thick material sewing machines.

The sewing machine for extra thick materials is designed for rare thick materials, the stitches and the entire machine are designed for thick materials, with a large mouth shuttle, thick threads, thicker threads, larger needle sizes, thicker needle plates, presser feet, feeding teeth, etc. Extra thick material sewing machines have a clear target, so if you buy one you must consider whether you often need to turn extra thick material, as other materials are not suitable.

The medium thick material sewing machine, on the other hand, has a medium-sized needle with a medium thick thread in a small spout (double large) shuttle and a relatively small second fine and stable needle plate with presser foot feed teeth.

In terms of machine sewing thread, this mainly concerns the thread specification (thickness, number of strands, process), material, whether waxed or otherwise. For machine needles, the range of application of needle numbers varies from one machine model to another, especially for medium and extra thick materials. Of course, industrial sewing machines have a round head with grooves and domestic sewing machines have a flat head without grooves, so don't make a mistake when buying.

In terms of stitching, this is mainly related to the shape of the needle tip (indicated by different letters), the thickness and shape of the sewing thread, and the sewing level of the person. For the use of accessories and the maintenance of the machine, regular oiling is required, and there are also machines with automatic oil supply. It is necessary to constantly try to find the right needle plate, presser foot, feed teeth, hem and other accessories to suit your working style, and some brands have a protective clutch at the handwheel.

This shows that there is a big difference between extra-thick and medium-thick sewing machines, so we must be sure to choose the right machine for the right kind of material, otherwise it will be counterproductive!
